Has The South Really Risen?

Hey people one of the followers sent me this.

As we all know the South, has deep history of segregation through the civil rights movement and the slavery era. Today the question is posed…………..has the south really risen? It has been reported that in Southern states such as Georgia, Mississippi, and more, that some high schools are having segregated proms! This has dumbfounded me, but in doing research it shows that parents and students in these areas have been supportive of the idea of segregating the proms and this baffles me even more. Stars such as Morgan Freeman, has even offered to pay for his old high school’s first integrated prom. The idea was embraced by the students, but rejected by the parents. What will it take to really overcome? and what is your opinion on this topic. You can see the documentary on this in July on HBO titled “Prom Night in Mississippi”.

  1. I think this is the most ignorant, selfish, and childish thing I ever heard of.... As black people we must rise above this foolishness and not entertain such lifeless acts, and ideas. How dare a black parent to support this..... Quick to curse when you feel like you’re being judged cause your black or quick to run up to the school because someone called you child a ni***r!!!! Please your the racist!!!! The reason you feel like you can’t overcome as a black person is because your too ignorant to rise up!!!! God has given us access to all things in the kingdom and this is what you want???? lol the funny thing is, people do to us what we allow... they spoke up on this idea to watch you make fools of yourself and kids, if you had taught your children better about racism they wouldn’t be for this segregation prom at all... they would think like me... I’m a young beautiful black woman who stands for her own and (aint) no Black Purple blue Pink OR WHITE SELF CENTER, SELFISH, IRLETERATE, PRIDEFUL, INGNORANT FOOL going to hold me back, and can careless what the hell you think... Love me or hate me, there is no in between. You have to be able to look past color… This would be a issue if you truly have that personal relationship with God because you would understand it’s not about color and color don’t make you. It’s your inner being. God didn’t judge you by color when he got up on that cross did he? But guess what…. HE WHO JUDGES OTHERS WILL ALSO BE JUDGED… I could go on and on but I won’t.... my question to you is.... How much longer will we as a body allow others ignorance to hold us back and continue to brand us? HE WHO ANGERS YOU CONTROLS YOU....

  2. I for one have never heard of such a thing. I believe that integration comes from individuals who are open to differences in others and themselves. Since the students are against it, how do you ever expect this to happen. I really can't identify how something like this even started???? As an educator myself, I feel that it's up to the schools and administration to make this a comfortable topic and address issues concerning it. This will promote integration with the students that will then fickle down to the parents. I would like to see the documentary to get true comments on this topic and to be able to get a better understanding of why????? I do believe we can overcome!

  3. Headline reads "When Tradition Destroys Progress"
Their argument: Why fix what is not broken.

Their way out: the proms are privately funded, therefore removing the civil/social responsibility from the school.

Yes it’s sad. Historically sad, it was sad when our ancestors were taken against their will and the black family was systematically divided. Sad when we lost our civil rights leaders to violence. A Tradition of sadness. But it doesn’t have to be.

Like the sadness of our past someone needs to take a stand and say NO MORE!! This time I am MAD!! May the class of 20010, black and white collectively take a stand! May they look into the eyes of their parents and make them answer the WHY are you ok with this? Someone STAND-UP!! To ignorance disguised as Good ole southern (sad) traditions.
